Cayin N7, excellence arrives at Cayin

The Cayin N7 heads the company's new line of Hi-Res players with updated features for audiophile use and enjoyment. In its analog section, we find a good assortment of inputs and outputs, including 4.4mm balanced both headphone and line. Thanks to its 1-Bit network for DSD512 decoding and its class A/AB amplification stage, you can get the maximum performance in a device of its characteristics.

In its most technological section, it highlights the integration of Snapdragon 665 and Android 12 to take advantage of the installation of streaming applications. Discover what's new from Cayin!

Fully balanced design

Being discrete is technically more demanding, but leaves more room for fine-tuning the sound signature for superior performance. In the Cayin N7, the regular stereo circuit consists of left (L) and right (R) channel, while the balanced circuit contains differential inputs and differential outputs, so L+,L-, R+, R, R is required.

For the first time, Cayin dares to use a discrete circuit for DAC, LPF and headphone amplifier in a DAP. It adopts double-sided symmetrical PCB design for N7, minimizes interference and keeps the layout and signal path length as uniform as possible.

Pure 1-Bit DSD DAC

The Cayin N7 integrates 1 purpose-designed microminiaturized bit with a fully discrete component DAC circuit:

  • Discrete 1-bit DAC: converts digital signal to analog signal through a network of 128 pcs (4x32) high precision thin film resistors.FPGA: improves output and digital audio signal.
  • FPGA: enhances the digital audio signal and output.
  • Audio bridge: unaltered DSD transfer, to convert PCM to 1-bit bitstream before transmitting to the DAC circuit.
  • Power supply: Sophisticated low-noise with highly isolated supply circuitry to support different digital and analog processing functions separately.

LPF Discrete

After several attempts, Cayin develops a Class A symmetrical push-pull amplifier circuit based on dual NPN+PNP bipolar transistors, which offers high performance in a small board space and low power consumption/heat dissipation.

Uncompromising amplification

The N7 includes a 4-channel discrete component-based circuit with low-noise audio-grade JFETs. It also features special optimization for low impedance EMI and portable headphones.

The sophisticated resistor network can successfully decode when its algorithm can perfectly synchronize against different sampling frequencies. This N7 employs TWO femtosecond crystal oscillators with extremely low phase noise (-100dBc) to facilitate high precision low jitter reproduction. The low jitter minimizes digital artifact and enhances the musicality and naturalness of digital audio reproduction.

Class A and Class AB modes can be switched via the drop-down menu to customize the sound signature to suit your personal preferences, music genres and headphones of all types.

The perfect portable source

This new Cayin Hi-Res player incorporates a pair of outputs, both 4.4mm balanced and 3.5mm. The single-ended output can be configured as Line Out or Pre-Out. All of this allows the user to connect the N7 to a wide variety of portable and desktop devices, as well as home audio devices.

Dedicated line drivers to handle the line output and pre-output signal independently, ensuring that both outputs are optimized for your applications.

Clean, unamplified line output

The line output features a fixed voltage line level with output without volume control. It can serve as a high quality source for headphones, amplifier (portable or desktop) and integrated amplifier in home audio systems.

On the other hand, Pre-Out is a variable voltage line level output with high analog precision and volume control. It serves as a high quality preamplifier for any power amplifier.

Professional precision

With professional precision, the Cayin N7 integrates a low-distortion, low-noise analog JRC resistance ladder electronic volume control commonly used in audiophile preamplifier. 4 channels in one integrated controller offers higher precision and lower power consumption than two stereo volume controllers.

For its part, the dedicated brass volume knob is patterned to enhance grip, and provide precise control and elegant presentation.

MQA Support

MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is an award-winning British brand technology that delivers the sound of the original master recording. A master MQA file is fully authenticated and is small enough to stream or download.

The N7 now includes MQA technology, which enables MQA audio files with up to 16x decoding, resulting in 705.6 kHz and 768 kHz figures for studio-quality playback.

Hi-Res Wireless Distinctive

The Cayin N7 supports multiple Bluetooth 5.0 audio codecs:

  • LDAC (up to 96kHz)
  • UAT (up to 192kHz),
  • AAC (up to 48kHz)
  • SBC (up to48kHz)

In Receiver mode, the DAP functions as a 192kHz or 96 kHz wireless DAC. In Transmit mode, the DAP serves as a digital source to your Bluetooth speakers or headphones.

Customized for a musical experience

With this Cayin N7 we find a 64-bit Snapdragon 665, 4G RAM and a high-performance FPGA for proprietary coding. Its custom Android 12 allows installing any third-party application; while the DTA (Direct Transport Audio) feature allows skipping SRC during local playback.

 

Internally, the Hi-Res player offers 64GB internal storage and support for microSD cards up to 1TB.

Mobile control

Thanks to HiByCast compatibility, the N7 can be connected to and controlled from the cell phone with the same user interface and functions.

Thus, all application and system functions are available remotely:

  • Control volume and playback.
  • Manage and browse the music library.
  • Install, operate and manage third-party applications.
  • Complete system configuration such as connectivity, security and accessibility.

Long battery life

The huge 3.8V 9000mAH lithium battery integrates a carefully tuned power management system. You can charge your device with PD2.0, so you can charge your DAP from 20% to 80% in about 2 hours.

The battery figures allow continuous music playback with up to 10 hours with single-ended 3.5 mm headphones and 8.5 hours with balanced 4.4 mm.

Practicality and craftsmanship

High precision CNC machined 6063 aluminum alloy with a fine polish finish provides excellent corrosion resistance and is sensational to touch and handle. The physical buttons are carefully prepared for one-handed operation.

The sharp 5" FHD TFT display meets the latest user expectations without draining the battery too quickly. Through it, you can execute functions such as double-tap via the multi-point touch screen for simple and straightforward operation.
