The dual desktop/portable power supply modes featured in the M17 portable desktop player and Q7 portable desktop amplifier have been well received by the audiophile community, which is why FiiO sought to put this technology into other products.
Now, with the implementation of dual power supply modes in the M15 with its more ergonomic design, the M15s is the ideal combination of portability and high performance.
The new M15s begins a new chapter in FiiO's high-end lineup, sharing the same technologies as the M7 or Q7, to deliver desktop performance in a portable package that includes desktop mode, two power supply modes and five gain levels.
When in dedicated desktop mode and with USB fast charging, the M15s will essentially transform into a desktop device and operate completely without a battery. That is, in this mode, the battery will not be charged or discharged, preventing battery degradation.
Not only does the M15s feature the dual desktop/laptop power supplies as seen on other FiiO products, but it is also equipped with an automatic auxiliary DC power supply: the M15s can automatically recognize when fast charging via USB is being used and automatically switches to use the higher voltage power supply, leading to a 26.67% increase in power supply for even more power output.
Even when not using the quick charge adapter, the M15 can automatically switch to a higher voltage power supply that is sufficient to power most headphones.
The FiiO M15s can be adjusted with five gain levels. When under USB power, the enhanced gain level of the supra-aural headphones is also available, allowing distortion-free power output of up to 1200 mW per channel, easy enough to control a wide variety of IEMs and headphones.

The completely separate digital power supply reduces crosstalk and interference.
The high-precision, low-noise, multistage analog power supply is used for initial signal processing.
Finally, the multi-voltage servo power supply for headphone amplifier, capable of driving low and high impedance loads.
The M15s features the ES9038PRO DAC chip with eight DACs. Each channel uses four D/A converters in parallel to form a fully differential output for truly rich, high-resolution sound.
Audio data is passed through a fourth-generation FPGA developed by FiiO with phase-locked loop technology, which works in conjunction with two custom Japanese NDK femtocond crystal oscillators to provide a high-precision, low-jitter unified clock source for the entire audio architecture. All this is done in the pursuit of a purer sound.
The advanced and highly efficient heat dissipation design allows the M15s to maintain stable temperatures despite its high power output.
For this purpose, it mounts a stainless steel battery compartment, in order to quickly dissipate battery heat. It consists of high-precision and low temperature drift thin film resistors and capacitors, which can stably cope with changes through a dedicated metal shield, graphene and high thermal conductivity silica gel over the hot spots for maximum power dissipation.
To protect against interference as much as possible, the M15s employs a copper-nickel shield that protects the analog portion of the audio circuitry as well as the main SoC to ensure the purity of the analog signals traveling through the circuitry. In addition, stacked on the main shield are other protective and heat dissipation materials, as well as wave absorbing paper.
The high quality parts and carefully added shielding design in this FiiO M15s are intended to ensure a truly clean, high-resolution sound.
The M15s wireless capabilities include AirPlay, streaming and DLNA transmission, as well as Bluetooth.
Bluetooth is handled by the Qualcomm QCC5124 2-way chip with transmit and receive support.
The volume of the FiiO M15 can be adjusted with an analog potentiometer or with knobs, allowing you to easily adjust the 120 volume levels the way you prefer.
Feel free to turn the volume knob to your heart's content, as the integrated rotary encoder is highly accurate and designed for minimal wear with each turn of the knob. Even if you accidentally drop the device, the encoder is securely fixed to ensure continued reliability of the volume knob.
