For the TNF tweeter, Focal has made two important advancements to the aluminum/magnesium tweeter. The suspension that connects the dome to its support uses a shape memory material, Poron.
This suspension is derived directly from the famous Utopia beryllium tweeter and reduces distortion by a third between 2000 Hz and 3000 Hz, an area of important sensitivity for the ear. The spatialization and very weak directivity of the inverted dome have been improved, to perceive silky treble, wherever you are listening in the room.
This linen membrane has been manufactured exclusively in France since 2013 by Focal. With its original design, it is completely oriented towards acoustic performance.
It is a sandwich made up of a flax fiber core (Flax, in English), located between two thin sheets of fiberglass. The flax fiber restores a very natural sound without coloration, rich reproduction in the mids and clear attacks in the bass.
Its lightness provides good dynamics, its rigidity maintains the bass and provides good cushioning, for neutral and natural listening.
Linen is twice as light as fiberglass, as it is a hollow fiber. Its very weak elasticity makes it ideal for increasing the flexural rigidity module of a sandwich structure.
