An agile and uncompromising headphone, the redesigned RS2x explores new territories for Grado's Reference Series by pairing Maple wood with Hemp wood.
A Grado favorite, the RS2x headphones have been completely redesigned to deliver the full potential of hemp and maple woods. The shell and ring are maple, with a hemp core that brings it all together. Grado has chosen the wood as a raw material for its warmth and great tonal ability, making the RS2x an exceptional evolution of the RS2 range.
Discovering new details in songs listened to hundreds of times is what Grado strives for in every update of its iconic headphones. The driver and housing work together to react to acoustic vibrations and virtually eliminate any distortion. With harmonic colors and a mid-range recognized by discerning audiophiles around the world, the RS2x instantly takes you to the heart of the music. The sound of wood, magnified by Grado-developed processes, delivers full-bodied vocals across the entire frequency range.
The X drivers are the 4th generation of Grado transducers. Specifically tuned for the RS2x enclosure, this new design features a more powerful magnetic circuit, a voice coil with reduced effective mass and a reconfigured diaphragm. Re-designing these parts for the 44mm drivers improves efficiency, reduces distortion and maintains the harmonic integrity of the music.
In addition to the drivers, the cabling and headband have also been redesigned for the RS1x headphones. Equipped with greater resistance, the new cable with 8 super-annealed copper conductors gives even greater purity to the music.
For its part, the new black leather headband has white stitching that gives it style and personality.
Grado's first wooden headphones were created in 1994 by John Grado. Wood has been a regular raw material for the New York firm ever since. Each pair of RS1x headphones is handcrafted in Brooklyn by the firm's team, and this device goes from workbench to workbench until it is ready for the discerning ears of Grado users. The brand got its start on a kitchen table in 1953, and all the experience it has accumulated since then has led to the RS2x.
