Limited Edition Reference Series Hemp/Maple Headphones from Grado Labs. Hemp, the first of its kind, finds another purpose in Hemp headphones. A bright, warm and precise sound in this limited edition from Grado.
In his endless quest to experiment with all types of woods and materials, Grado had the opportunity to build with hemp. To everyone's surprise, it quickly became one of the favorites circulating in the Grado laboratories. To be frank, this is one of the best sounding Limited Editions they've built.
The highly compressed hemp creates a cushioning effect between the fibers. This produces a fuller sound, composed of a noticeable bottom end and a top end that smoothly extends to its limits. Hemp may do the heavy lifting, but hemphone is a collaborative effort. Maple has been incorporated into the shell to help balance the sound and highlight the sonic properties that maple can produce.
The Grado transducers integrated into the hemp housings had to be specifically tuned for a material that had never been worked with before. Being paired with the maple gave them some foresight, but it was only through trial and error that Grado was able to get the speakers to sound the way they wanted, and bring out the potential of the hemp.
The past seven decades have given Grado time to perfect their sound, letting the headphones reveal new notes and details in songs heard hundreds of times. Hemp headphones are slow burning and constantly improve with each listen. Just as they ensure that every headphone built, Grado's signature sound is always present, working in conjunction with hemp and maple.
