iFi Audio ZEN DAC Signature V2, new features and more performance

The iFi Audio ZEN DAC Signature V2 has been enhanced to deliver an even greater and purer listening experience than its first version.

The difference with the previous generation is the assembly of a 16-core XMOS chip instead of 8. This new and improved digital processor is more powerful than ever, coupled with updated clock circuitry to achieve audiophile definition.

A balanced piece

The ZEN DAC Signature V2 incorporates parts and circuitry inspired by the company's Pro range.

It combines a dual-mono signal stage with direct signal paths to ensure optimum sonic purity. The new low-jitter crystal clock means reduced noise> 20 dB better. The ZEN DAC Signature V2 will remain quiet wherever it is used.

Outstanding components including TDK C0G capacitors, Panasonic OS-CON and ELNA Slimic II capacitors complete the design.

Exceptional architecture

The digital stage of the ZEN DAC Signature V2 retains its True Native DAC architecture. It offers Bit-Perfect up to 32-bit / 384 kHz and native DSD up to DSD256 and DXD.

The iFi-programmed XMOS chip, which processes data received at the USB input, and audiophile-grade oscillators that eradicate jitter, contribute to exemplary handling of digital audio signals as they are received, processed and converted to analog form.

16 cores and MQA

Thanks to the processing power of the new 16-core XMOS chip, the ZEN DAC Signature V2 is now a full-featured MQA decoder.

The ZEN DAC Signature V2 includes MQA technology, which allows it to play MQA audio files and streams, delivering the sound of the original master recording.

The LED lights green or blue to indicate that the unit is decoding and playing back an MQA stream or file, and denotes provenance to ensure that the sound is identical to the source material.

The most secure connections

The iFi Audio ZEN DAC Signature features a single-ended connection to an amplifier and a 4.4mm Pentaconn output that allows for balanced signal transfer between compact products that cannot accommodate traditional bulky XLR connections.

The full benefit of the ZEN DAC Signature V2's balanced circuit design can be heard when connected to an amplifier or active loudspeakers equipped with a balanced input. This can be a 4.4mm Pentaconn input or stereo XLR inputs via a 4.4mm to XLR cable.

Choose between variable and fixed

The outputs of the ZEN DAC Signature V2 can be switched between variable and fixed.

  • Variable: you can use this setting if you want the DAC to control the volume of the active speakers or the volume as a preamplifier.
  • Fixed: this option is used for equipment with its own volume control.

Create your own combo

You can create your own portable audio system by combining the Signature V2 DAC with the ZEN CAN Signature 6XX for Sennheiser headphones or the latest ZEN CAN Signature HFM model.
