Immerse yourself in the incredibly natural sound of the Kyte speaker system. Meticulously designed to deliver true Rega sound at an affordable price.
Using our own ZRR high-frequency unit and a pair of hand-crafted Rega MX-125 mid-bass drivers, this compact bookshelf speaker is designed to complement any audio or hi-fi system.
Experience the true voice of Rega components with the new Kyte speaker system. Kytes are meticulously assembled by hand in house using our uniquely designed phenolic resin cabinet.
Internally they feature carefully designed ceramic plates and cross bracing to make the cabinet extremely rigid. This prevents unwanted resonances from interfering with the precise output of the drive units and directly improves both the dynamics and bass performance of the speaker.
The Kytes are easy to position and are supplied with an optional foot to allow various positioning, giving the user greater flexibility. A custom-designed stand mount adapter is available (sold separately) to allow use on a wide variety of third-party stands.
Rega fans will know that we have always questioned the marketing and science surrounding turntables. Experiments and research have allowed us to debunk common beliefs and use real engineering to produce world-class sound quality at reasonable prices. However, the speaker market is very different because there is a valid scientific and engineering discipline which, in turn, has created hundreds of competitors in the speaker market.
The success of many speakers depends on powerful marketing, eye-watering advertising budgets (of which Rega spends zero) and financial incentives for retailers. Funds that most speaker companies would spend on marketing, Rega has put it all into research and development to achieve totally unique cabinet constructions and our own high frequency unit and bass/mid driver (incorporating a four-way voice coil). layers). We even manufacture and wind our cross components in house.
So why phenolic? Historically, the accepted perception of a speaker was a rectangular-shaped wood veneer cabinet to complement the wooden furniture in the home.
The market has always demanded that speakers be furniture, and since the 1990s, European manufacturers were left with the choice of Far Eastern manufacturing or the inflated prices of home-built wooden cabinets. However, in recent times the world has changed perceptions of style and there has been a huge investment in modern forms of molding and the use of functional materials.
Injection molded plastic speaker cabinets are not new, but flexible molded plastic has been reserved for the world of PA or small desktop speakers where convenience and portability were a priority over sonic performance. This more recent national acceptance of functional wood-free cabinet shapes has allowed Rega to achieve a long-term dream. We invested heavily in injection molding rigid thermoset phenolic resin and collaborated with a British company to achieve this.
The natural rigidity of phenolic resin is a great advantage that has been further improved with ceramic plates and a complex internal cross-bracing structure. This unique cabinet construction has been achieved at a third of the price of other quality British made speakers.
