Topping BC3

The Topping BC3 is a high-resolution, battery-powered Bluetooth wireless receiver with integrated DAC.

Thanks to its CSR8675 Bluetooth chip, the device supports the best Bluetooth audio standards available to date (BT 5.0 SBC / AAC / apt-X / aptX - LL / apt-X HD / LDAC) and can handle sampling rates up to 24-bit - 96 kHz.

Its wide range of connectors (Mini-Toslink, line output, headphone output) makes it an ideal solution to easily connect your bluetooth audio sources to your DACs, integrated amplifiers or headphones.

Its analog audio circuitry also benefits from an ES9018Q2C ESS DAC that delivers excellent audio performance with THD + N <= 0.002% @ 1kHz on its headphone output and <0.001% on its line output for a noise level of <2.3uVrms.

The BCE3 receiver has a CSR8675 5.0 bluetooth chip on board that supports the following protocols:

• SBC / AAC
• apt-X
• aptX - Low latency
• apt-X HD
• LDAC

The CSR8675 chip can receive digital audio streams with a sampling rate of up to 96 kHz-24 bits for very high quality wireless reception. The device is therefore Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified.

The analog outputs (line output and headphone output) take full advantage of a decoding circuit based on an ES9018Q2C DAC chip.

This chip incorporates its own headphone amplification circuitry capable of directly driving your headphones without going through an external amplifier. A simple and efficient way to use your wired and EMI headphones with a Bluetooth source while taking advantage of an excellent battery.

The line output is ideal for adding high quality Bluetooth connectivity to your built-in amplifiers or active speakers. It is also a very practical tool for adding Bluetooth connectivity to a car's onboard sound system: once the BC3's line output is connected to the line input, each passenger can send their audio files independently.

When not used as a line output, the 3.5 mm output can also be used as a digital SPDIF output on the Mini-Toslink port.

A mini-toslink to toslink adapter is provided to allow you to easily connect all types of digital audio devices. This output allows you to connect your bluetooth sources to a DAC or DSP that does not have a native Bluetooth input for wireless use and easily switch between audio sources.

With a suitable source, it is possible to send a 96 kHz LDAC bluetooth signal to the BC3 and recover a SPDIF signal without degrading this high sampling rate on the mini Toslink output.

Topping's Bluetooth 5.0 BC3 receiver has an 800 mAh battery. The latter follows a 3-hour charging cycle and can easily last 11 hours once fully charged. Charging is easily accomplished using the supplied USB-C cable.
