FiiO FW5

The FiiO FW5 integrates FiiO's various cutting-edge technologies to deliver a fully integrated, high-fidelity true wireless solution. These headphones are FiiO's first true wireless headphones with a high-end Bluetooth chip, high-performance DAC and meticulously designed audio circuitry for a quantum leap in quality across the board.

These FW5s take a cable-free approach to hi-fi.

FiiO's new headphones feature an efficient AKM VELVET SOUND DAC type AK4332 with high performance decoding. This chip is able to obtain a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 106dB, with a low distortion of -96dB and a dynamic range of up to 102dB.

TWS headsets require maximum performance. The FW5 employs the high-end Qualcomm QCC5141 supporting Bluetooth 5.2 for stable, high-performance audio thanks to the chip's dual DSP and dual-core architecture. In addition, the FW5 is Snapdragon Sound certified as a testament to its extremely high audio capabilities.

The FW5 has been developed by the same FiiO R&D team that created the flagship FH9. 

They mount a 10mm dynamic driver to handle low and mid frequencies, while the higher frequencies are reproduced by 2 Knowles BA drivers. These drivers work together to deliver powerful, textured bass while reproducing every last detail in the treble.

The new FW5s use PU as the material of choice for the gasket surrounding the dynamic driver diaphragm, as its flexibility and high damping coefficient allow for lusher vocals and faster transient response.

The diaphragm of the dynamic driver is made of DLC, with very favorable properties such as high stiffness and light weight, to achieve the best sound performance.

For the high frequencies, Knowles BA drivers are used for each channel. These BA drivers are placed in the sound tube close to the ear to reduce high frequency loss as the sound waves travel to the listener's ear. This design ensures that even tones such as 16kHz are still heard clearly.

Thus, the design allows the FW5 to feature airy and exceptionally detailed treble that captures all the nuances of your favorite music.

This support ensures both a massive upgrade in sending and receiving high quality wireless audio and a significant improvement in multi-device compatibility.

The FW5 circuit continues the design concept of DACs and amplifiers that feature an independent volume control system.

There are 32 volume levels, to achieve the most precise adjustment. When connecting the FW5 to the cell phone, it is suggested to set the phone volume to the maximum level and customize the sound through the FW5, so that we can acquire a complete audio dynamics from the bluetooth transmission process to get the best sound quality.

The FiiO FW5 features 2 physical buttons to ensure independent control of track playback and pause. On the other hand and through the rest of the controls, you can manage everything that happens in your headphones and not miss absolutely nothing of the playback.

To ensure protection, a 0.02mm water-resistant film is placed in the space between the buttons and the housing, not only to prevent water from entering, but also to ensure a good feel when pressing the buttons. A customized water-resistant and sound-permeable mesh covers the mouthpiece and microphone openings to prevent water from entering while still allowing sound to pass through.

Despite including a high-performance DAC chip, a high-end Bluetooth chip and carefully designed audio circuitry, the FW5 has a long enough battery life to meet the needs of everyday use.

With its large built-in 65 mAh battery, the FW5 can be used for up to 7 hours on a single charge. The 380 mAh charging case allows a total battery life of over 21 hours.

When the FW5 charging case is opened, the headphones automatically turn on and pair with the last device. When the headphones are placed back into the charging case, the FW5 headphones automatically turn off to save power.

Both the charging case and the earphones have LED indicator lights for quick status feedback. The 4 indicator lights on the case not only indicate the remaining battery and charging status, but also indicate whether the earphones are inside the case.

Each of the capsules also contains a white indicator light that indicates the pairing status and other functions.

Each FW5 IEM has 2 microphones that work together with cVc noise cancellation technology for clearer voice calls and make communicating a pleasure.

To top off the experience, the FiiO FW5 comes standard with a set of balanced ear cushions, as well as 2 alternative sets of silicone ear cushions to emphasize vocals. These vocal pads are made of medical grade silicone and feature a soft texture that makes them comfortable to wear, making them a perfect combination of sound quality and superior comfort.
